666 or hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia June 6, 2006

As many of you know, today is the 6th day of the 6th months of 2006, or 06. That's a big 666 if you ask me. USA Today will tell you a little more here. Tall Skinny Kiwi writes about it here.

But what is even more scary that the mark of the beast from the book of Revelation, is that the final (finally) book of the Left Behind Series debuts today. Here's chapter 1 for free. Read it now before the day of the Devil is complete. And now, before it's too late, join the prophecy club.

666watch has some great question and answers on the topic. Here's my favorite: Is "www" equal to "666" in Hebrew? Here's another good one: Internet Tax Plan or 666?

Look, I'm no theologian and I don't know squat about the book of Revelation, but I can say that so many end-timers ahve come and gone that any prediction in modern times coming from Revelation that directly connect today's events (Iraq war, Eurpoean Union, internet) seem quite far fetched and is a real set up for disappointment and making Jesus look stupid. Furthermore, it hurts the Christian message.

Again, I am no scholar on eschatology, but I think what we need to know about the "end times" is that God's story has a good ending and people can opt into the story.

“but I think what we need to know about the “end times” is that God’s story has a good ending and people can opt into the story.”

Exactly! I’ve been saying this for years… every time someone begins bemoaning the state of the world and all its evils, I just say something like “But I know how it all ends.”

Excellent words from a non-scholar, who just tells it like it is! Thanks!! -bw

Sounds a lot like a line a friend of mine used to use, “I’m a pan-millenialist. It’ll all pan out in the end!”

Have you heard that left behind is coming out with a video game?

I think the website is http://www.leftbehindgames.com

Apparently you’re fighting against what was once the UN, now the army of the anti christ (who has 666 tatooed on his forehead. would you follow someone if they had that tatooed on them?) You try and convert people and if they don’t convert you may end up having to kill them. sounds like a load of christian fun huh?

Wow, that is quite the word!

I have heard about the Left Behind games. Oh man, what a disaster.

I love it, pan-millenialist. Good one.

I heard/read someone say once that with all of the prophecy pointing to Jesus, most people in his day didnt recognize him, so why should we think we’ll do any better when it comes to predicting end-times-related events?

Didn’t the LB series end once before, then they started up with “prequels” or something? My guess is LaHaye and Jenkins will find more to write as long as the $ keeps coming.
