I Apologize For The Price Of This Book September 5, 2006

Posted by fajita in Family Science, Grad School Life.

Today was the official first day of classes. I had two classes and I heard the apology twice. “I apologize for the price of this book, but there is nothing I can do about it.”

Textboks are a scam. I can’t wait until I write one.

Go ahead and write one, but from what I’ve heard, you won’t get any of the money!! They scam the professors too!!

unless I’m wrong and you’ll make a mint

It is crazy how much books are now.
One book over $200.

I enjoy reading your blog and your comments on Mike Cope’s blog.

Love for you to check out my blog anytime.
God bless you this semester and as you continue to serve Him, making a differnce for Christ.

/But the leather binding smells and feels so nice! They’ll look impressive in an office bookcase someday. 🙂

Ha! Leather binding my foot. If only…

Can’t you just download textbooks from online nowadays?

6. fajita - September 6, 2006

Oh, you can, as in the technology is there, but you can’t as the moral will to actually do it is not.

Actually, I think the books should be downloadable with a fee, but smaller than $110 a pop.

Okay… I’ll break down and give you a 38% loan to buy books…

8. Jeanna (Beaner) - September 6, 2006

Well, I meant downloading it LEGALLY!!!! 😉

I don’t understand why academia has not entered the digital age either. It seems you could just pay a small fee directly to the author and download a PDF and bypass the publisher and their huge printing, distribution and markup fees.
